Equality Impact Assessment on proposals for Land Law Reform

Under Section 75 of the Northern Ireland Act 1998 the Northern Ireland Law Commission has conducted an Equality Impact Assessment (EQIA) on certain proposals for land law reform in Northern Ireland.

As part of its programme of reform the Northern Ireland Law Commission has developed new proposals which will overhaul the current land law in Northern Ireland. These proposals, which were launched on the 8th June 2009, are aimed at modernising and simplifying the law and removing unnecessary complications where they exist.

The Commission is now seeking views on the EQIA Consultation Report and how the proposals may impact on the nine categories of persons specified in the Section 75 legislation. The Commission would now welcome the views of all those who represent Section 75 groups and other stakeholders’ views on equality issues raised by this document.

Consultation period ended 12 Noon on Thursday 24th December 2009
