Consultation Paper Bail in Criminal Proceedings NILC 7 (2010)

This consultation invited the views on the desirability of reforming bail law and practice in Northern Ireland. Topics considered in the Consultation Paper include the grounds for the refusal of bail, bail decision making, bail conditions, breach of bail, bail monitoring and support and the role of victims. The Paper includes specific consideration of the provisions applying to children and young persons. The consultation period closed on Monday 31st January 2011.

A further Equality Screening of the bail proposals was carried out in March/April 2011.

Consultation on Equality Impact Assessment
Interested parties are invited to comment on the provisional conclusions reached in this Equality Impact Assessment. The formal consultation period for this Equality Impact Assessment commenced on 5th July 2011 and the closing date for responses is Tuesday 11th October 2011.
